Battery 3-Import Your Own Samples

Quick question,
Having some trouble with Battery 3 and getting my own drum kit (REAL drum kit) in there. I know you cannot record directly to Battery, but you can load your own samples. How can I record a kt3 file and then load it into Battery 3?
