You got my vote out of sympathy, but MAN why would you play that song on BASS?
But who am I to judge you ? |

But who am I to judge you ? | For the record, I wouldn't play that song on bass under any other circumstances.
BTW, I don't want any sympathy votes. If you like it, vote for it. If not, vote for Mark's or skip the poll entirely.

And still don't see it.

It's cool though that you accepted the challenge

If not, vote for Mark's or skip the poll entirely. | We used to do a full band instrumental version that was a one-drop-roots-dub feel, and actually, that progression is super fun to play bass with (sort of like the verse on Concrete Jungle which follows a melodic line rather than a 3 chord change), because there's so much you can do with it tonally and pull and stretch the song in different directions.

| | Soaking up the cathode rays... | | Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada | | Mark's version I got bored with after about 30 seconds and turned off shortly after... Jimmy's version was too brief and left me wanting more. Tempo wise, I prefer somewhere between the two. I thought Mark's was a little too dirge and lifeless. Jimmy's, although IMO a little speedy, was full of life and I thought really captured the spirit of the song... Well done Jimmy!
On second and third listening, I think Jimmy's tempo is about right, I just want to hear more!

I just threw it down quickly this morning and didn't want to spend too much time on it. Maybe one day I'll expand on it, but solo bass isn't really my thing and there are much better at it than me.
