I also heard they went into this one producing it themselves, which would lead me to believe why it's so "unpolished".

Not that that is a bad thing at all, I just think the single is banal. How is the rest of it?

Their rhymes have always bordered on the insipid, but they are always fun.

Who else, besides me, think the video for ch-ch-check it out
is the absolute WORST Spike Jones ripoff-homage in history?

No focus, just a best-of past ideas montage....done badly.

I do agree, although the single is nothing like the album....NOTHING! Yeah the vid does suck... but they don't have too many which rock.

LOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG time Bboys fan here (from the first album on). Good to hear that this one harkens back to the Paul's Boutique sound. I did not like "Hello Nasty" at all, no matter how many times I spun it.

I'll be snaggin' the new one tonight.

I listened to it once, but I found it quite boring. I am a big fan of Check Your Head. This cd just seemed very tiered. I will give it another chance but I don't see my opinion changing.

I hope I was premature in my judgment. I was very excited when I heard about this.

Anybody else think the same thing?

Bought it, listened to it, dug it. Definitely has an old school vibe and it has some of their funniest lyrics yet.

Bryan: I imagine what turned you off was the lack of sampling, instrumentation, etc. It's a very percussive CD and simply does not possess the grooves of past releases. There are no bass lines, either, which is a definite minus.

The B-Boys have not lost me yet.
My entry point was Paul's, but I came to enjoy License later (as my appreciation of similarly old skool stuff matured).

I'm looking forward to picking this one up at lunch. It's been too damn long.

And how can anyone say they have no cool videos? 'Fight For Your Right...' is a classic from the heyday of MTV. 'Hey Ladies' is equally classic. 'Sabotage' was a watershed video. And the new one actually contains lots of references to their old videos (and extras on the 'Skillz to Pay the Billz' video collection, among others) that are kinda funny to longtime fans who are paying attention.

'Right Right Now Now' has been the song that has stood out the most.

i'm currently in the process of listening to the whole album for the second time.

After one listen, so far so good. Need a few more to make a solid call. Right Right Now Now is certainly groovy, w/ the harpsichord sample.

Great show! They did a great mix of all their albums. Mix Master Mike might be the best DJ in the world.

I really dig this new cd. I didn't like hello nasty very much but I like the style of this record. The lyrics seem more political than past efforts, which may turn some people off. But I liked the entire cd. And Right Right Now Now is my favorite song as well.
