Benjamin Strange "Purity" on Guitar Center *free* cd

I didn't know if anyone else gave props to Benjamin Strange yet, but I went to GC last weekend and got a free CD containing one of Ben's tracks called "purity". Nice "tone poem" quality to it, in an ambient, almost TOOL-like way.

Pretty cool work. Congrats. What is that sample at the end?

Ron

Heck, I had mostly forgotten about this until you sent me a PM about it.

The circumstances around this were a bit odd: I got a temporary job at Guitar Center, and they had a contest to submit songs for their Fresh Cuts CD, which would be judged by Weezer. Apparently Weezer liked my song, but GC didn't tell me until a day before the final mix was due. So I had to send in a crappy mix to them, which they then mastered really poorly. The whole thing sounds super bright and overly bassy, which wasn't what I was going for, but oh well.

The opening burbly sound is actually a crappy slap bass loop that TBer Matt Till posted here a few years ago, which I stole and manipulated for my own purposes. The ending sample is a speech from Peter O'Toole, starring in Man of La Mancha (1972):

Almost every other sound is from a bass (minus drums, piano, and other assorted synths).

I've posted a streaming version of it on my site here:
