best acoustic blues albums

i like the old stuff like robert johnson and charley patton. any insight on some good blues albums? i like muddy waters and albert king but i believe the stuff on acoustic guitar is more meaninful to me. anyone?

Check out this Google search for Gale Dean Wardlow. He's one of the world's foremost authorities on early blues, not to mention a pretty nice guy and absolutely fascinating to talk to. Any of his speaches or interviews should point you in the right direction. Also, check out Fat Possum Records. They have some great albums, and some tracks to listen to online.

Keb Mo' plays some acoustic blues. "Am I Wrong?" is especially cool. Then there are other songs that have him playing acoustically with bass and drums, sometimes keys. Plus, he has a great voice.

I have one from Big Bill Broonzy called Trouble In My Mind. Pretty good stuff. I don't think it's very old, as the sound quality is pretty good. You might also want to check out these guys if you haven't already:

How about Folksinger by Muddy Waters? Features Muddy and Buddy Guy on acoustic guitars and Willie Dixon on double bass. Very nice album.

P.S. I love that first Hot Tuna album. Jack Casady's playing is spectacular on that.

That would be the first Hot Tuna album. Jorma was very much into his Rev. Gary Davis thing.

Check out Mississippi John Hurt. Great stuff, amazing guitar player. Most of what I have heard is just acoustic guitar and vocals......I consider it to be folk/country blues. May not be exactly what you are looking for but definitely worth a listen.

im very interested in hearing some good old stuff straight outta delta or close to it. like vocals and acoustic mostly. i love that stuff because its so emotional like you can really feel the pain.
