Here are my top CDs for 2006 (in no order):

- Tool - 10,000 Days
- Wolfmother - self-titled debut
- Alexi Murdoch - Time Without Consequence

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade

This album totally threw me off. Some of their emo/pop-sensibilites are still intact, but no doubt, this is a friggin rock album. A theatrical rock opera of sorts, and a pretty cool concept idea to boot. By far my favorite of the year.

Tool - 10,000 days. Totally blew away most other things that came out this year.

Although I'm eagerly awaiting the new Rush album.

Colour Haze - Tempel
The most amazing band on the planet currently put out probably their best album so far this year. This is objectively good music, if you don't like them I question your sexuality and humanity.

Tool - 10,000 Days
Their worst album ever, but still pretty damn good. Hopefully will age better with time, but I never had a Tool album fall off the radar so quickly.

Mastodon - Blood Mountain
An absolute monster.

Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
The closing suite rules, the rest is highly amazing.

Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue
I didn't like it at first, but I didn't like their debut much either until it really clicked. It took until seeing them perform some of this material live (with 12 other people in a nearly abandoned warehouse, METHULL) to really appreciate it.

Lots of other good stuff this year, but that was the great.
