This guys name is Miyavi...a quick run down...he was the lead guitarist of a band called Due le Quartz when he was 17 and went solo when he was 20 (now 23). This clip is just from a few months ago.
I've seen some good guitarists but I've yet to see someone really top him. I'm sure theres someone out there who will disagree but hes the best I've ever seen. I love how he slaps, its amazing.
I've shown this to a few people before and some didn't know where the tapping sound was coming from...I assume everyone here sees it but if not, hes hitting the body of the guitar with his fingers in the beginning, when hes singing hes stomping his foot (he does this in the music video for the song and in live concerts but he has a drum set up so when he stomps you hear the drums and symbols/tamberines). Also, dont mind his outfit/look..he didnt keep it for too long lol
And yes, his sing is not the best in the world

I didn't realize it was a dude until he started singing, at first I thought it was Cindi Lauper.
I actually really like his voice...

Whenever I pick up a guitar I always try slapping on it, and I wondered what it would sound like if someone who actually knew what they were doing tried it. I personally prefer riff-players to wankers and I liked how he didn't try to show off by going up the neck.
Needs a new wardrobe though, it looks like the 80's got into a fight with the 60's.

Despite the fashion.

Any of those players destroy that guy. So do Steve Howe, John Petrucci, Al DiMeola, Robert Fripp, Reggie Wooten, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Stanley Jordan, and...well...most of the guitarists I've ever heard.
