-Bazz- | I'm a die hard Iron Maiden / Steve Harris fan normally but that Peace Sells riff just kills.

That's the short list for now. There's a ton of songs with great metal riffs that aren't "mallcore" bands. |

How about Dave's bass on Neurosis "Obsequeos(sp) Obsolesence" from "Word as Law". Or pretty much every song off "Pain of Mind" by the same guys.
Or almost every song off "Israel" by Sleep. Or "Fireface" by High on Fire. Or again pretty much any song by Old Grandad. Or, heck most of the best metal bands you cant even hear the bass. Slayer? Ok on Undisputed Attitude you can hear it but South of Heaven?
Or that one song by Emperor whose name eludes me. |

plus i am pretty keen to a few RATM metal riffs, like testify, Calm as a bomb, wake up, freedom, born of a broken man, bulls on parade, revolver...
I like those a lot, i don't know if RATM qualifies as metal, but some people do, some don't, if you don't, disregard that list |

Black Sabbath - A National Acrobat
High on Fire - 10,000 years
Sleep - Dragonaut
Sleep - Dopesmoker
Clutch - Spacegrass
Clutch - Mice and Gods
Big Business - Focus Pocus
Candlemass - Solitude
Eyehategod - Every song off "Southern Confederacy of Ruined Lives"
Kyuss - Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop
Kyuss - Son of a Bitch
Kyuss - a lot of Kyuss
Pentagram - Bloodlust
Saint Vitus - I bleed black
Om - on the mountain at dawn
Witchfinder General - Free Country
Black Sabbath - Into the void
I could go on forever in this aspect of metal, it's argued that it's all metal, but it's hard rock at least. Compared to Judas priest, it's brutal. To spit out the most obvious Thrash Riff
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Dun Dun Dun
Dah nah now dah nah now dah nah now
You know what I'm talkin' about.

You know what I'm talkin' about. | I actually prefer Angel Of Death... The cool riff, not the main trem picked one. About a mintue and a half in.
I don't think I can choose one though so here's a few others...
Pantera- Mouth For War, Cowboys From Hell both have awesome riffs.
Mayhem- Pagan Fears.
Black Sabbath- Paranoid.
