Best New DANCE Covers

Sign in to disble this ad
The new band I'm allows every member to pick two new covers a week—a nice fair, system that assures that everyone gets a fair share of the list. For the first few weeks, just to stack the sets, everyone was tossing in old favorites we've known for years. It got us practicing fast, but now we've picked way too many hard rock, classic rock, and alternative covers. We're never gonna get the club gigs if we don't play some dance-floor stuff! Sure, we'll all have a great time in practice playing our favorite songs, but if we don't get the club gigs, It's a waste of time, energy, and money.

They're asking for my picks for the week. It's been a while since I was in a Top-40/club band and I'm outta touch. You guys in working cover bands: What are the hottest new dance-floor-friendly covers out there now. What's packing the dance floor and getting all the chicks singing along?

You could pull out "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder...

Also "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley is a good one... I think on youtube there's a video of the Racontours doing it...

both of those I think could work in a lot of different settings with only adjustments being in instrumentation and maybe slightly with style... deffinately dancable

Paralyzer by Finger 11 gets them every time;

If you are not doing Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry you really should. It's the Brown Eyed Girl of the 21st Century.

Fly Me Courageous by Drivin and Crying has yet to miss as well.

Follow the link in my profile to my bands webpage and check out the "Schlong List". There are some pretty newer popular songs listed and they all go over very well.

Thanks... We got the FInger 11 and Buck Cherry tunes in there... They're about all we got on the dance side... We need about ten more...

I just perused our song list. Seems like I think we do more than what's listed......

So Hott By Kid Rock goes over pretty huge. If you don't mind Drop D.
