The best recorded bass solo ever (Obviously my opinion)

After much debate, I settled on Jaco's solo from "I shot the Sheriff" off of Live in New York vol. 2

I'm sure people won't be please with this, but I honestly thank Gid that someone recorded that night and gave us all that perfect solo. It is everything a solo should be and more.

I thank Gid as well... Gid's a good man.

Strange, I thought that entire performance was a bit off... then again, Jaco wasn't in his prime at the time... impressive a trio could make so much noise though.

That is a good solo

Jaco - Port of Entry

Marcus Miller - Summertime

Stanley Clarke - Overjoyed

A good solo indeed, but in my opinion there are many
solos from the Live In New York-volumes that
are just as good or better:

Freedom Jazz Dance vol. 4
History Vol. 7
Dolphin Dance vol. 7
Sly Shuffle vol. 5
Equinox vol. 4

This is my alltime top 3:

Jaco Pastorius - (Used To Be A) Cha-Cha
Jaco Pastorius - All The Things You Are
Jaco Pastorius - So What/Teen Town

"Voices Inside (Eveything is Everything)" by Donny Hathaway with Willie Weeks on bass.

Oooh, I'm usually pretty good about the spelling, I wonder how "Gid" got past me.....stupid wrong vowel, that's pretty funny however.

Oh can I get my hands on more of these Jaco live in new york boots and others? I'm trying hard, but I don't have kazaa anymore and can't seem to find any on the oink-type downloading sites.

my favorite is Havona.

a cool solo of a different vein is Friends and Strangers - Dave Grusin, with Marcus Miller on fretless, one of the most melodic solos I've heard.
