I'm partial to R30.

I prefer both the setlist and the production on R30. There is too much crowd noise in Rio for my taste. I might like Snakes & Arrows better than both, though.

Doesn't the Rio one have an option where you can switch camera angles or somethin?

Though hearing the crowd "sing" YYZ is kind of amusing.

Hard to pick a favorite Rush DVD, but of the two you picked I might say Rush in Rio if only because the crowd was SO into it. There's a really high energy level on that DVD. Still, both DVDs are incredible, as are all their others.

I can't decide. I like both for different reasons. IMO, the overall production of R30 is more polished, but as already said, the crowd imparts a special magic to the Rio concert. One thing's for sure, though: While both drum solos are awesome, "O Baterista" is way more enjoyable than "Der Trommler" for me.

Exactly. Unless there are some budget constrictions, the best choice is to get both (plus Replay X3 and Snakes And Arrows Live... and don't miss "Beyond The Lighted Stage"!)

Snakes and Arrows.

Failing that, R30.

RiR looks spectacular, but the mix & edit aren't the best. IMO.

I like Rio. The energy level is insane, and the band seemed to feed into it. On R30, the German crowd is a little too sedate.

Well, with all fairness, the band hadn't yet added sausage making machinery into the backline for that tour.

Rio has that insane crowd energy. The documentary is priceless.

But S&A gets more repeat viewings from me b/c of better production and a real deep setlist.
