Black Keys... with bass... I don't like.

So I been listening to a lot of black keys and I've decided that I dont like the songs with 'prominent' bass as much as I do in their 'regular songs'. Like the song "im not the one", I just dont think is as great as their other stuff. I still like it, but I think some of the magic of them was the killer guitar lines and no or little bass.

Your thoughts?

On the contrary for me. I like when it's really present. And usually it's not that overpowering.

I like them better when they make an effort to fill up the bass part of the frequency spectrum, whether it's with a bass guitar, or mixing the kick drum higher, or overdubbing lower-register guitar lines. I felt like in some of their earlier music they played as if they were a power trio, but they didn't have a bass, so there was a glaring hole between the drums and the guitar/vox. Rubber Factory and thickfreakness annoy me a little bit because of that.

both great albums. I was thinking about dubbing in my own bass on Rubber Factory, just as an experiment

Ten Cent Pistol on Brothers is a great bass song (fun to play too!)

Psychotic Girl off of Attack and Release is great too.

I love their bass stuff (Danger mouse plays some of the bass on the last two albums - like Psychotic Girl - he gets a great tone)

Just my 2 cents.

I love the new album, but i prefer them as a 2 piece. I like the dynamic alot better that way.

Brothers is a GREAT album. Highly overrated though, especially the song tighten up.

As a whole, I like the Magic Potion album better.

I agree 100% I enjoy them much more with little to no bass, I don't like Brothers at all.
