Boplicity, Miles Davis

Hey folks,

I have a VERY limited time to learn the walking bass part to boplicity (a few days). I am having a bit of trouble with this one though.. I do have the chords in my real book but when I listen to the recording it sounds much more complex than what I am trying to play...

SO the question is: Should I just try to invent my own bassline to it whilst looking at the chords, or should I try to listen to the recording and figure out how to play and memorize this rather strange at times bassline?

any tips from anybody who has mastered this song?

If I cannot figure this out within a couple of days, I am going to have to revert to using a simpler song that I already know, (this is for an ensemble placement audition for this fall semester at school for me)
