Boring Bass Playing

Ever since we got a new drummer (who is way better than the last one- more diverse, more energy, etc), I've toned back my bass playing a lot. I do roots and stuff now, let these cats have plenty of space.

Here is a vid with some clips of the stuff we're developing now. The last album was real old school Tool/Killswitch Engage sounding. This new material is a little more fresh, to me anyway.

the warbly/reversed drums bit in the beginning was interesting.

IMO, with a creative drummer, I figured that you might be given more incentive to be creative, but that's just me.

I'd love too, but he's not consistent!

Didnt listen, but when we picked up a new drummer, with stronger chops and time, I could leave notes OUT of my basslines. Mark of a good drummer, I'd say.

Yeah, I just have to use better judgement these days. Before, I was making up for the old cat's redundant playing. Since this guy has skills, he can hang with my cool odd time and stuff which is where my heart is anyway.
