"So What"...2 changes.
"All Blues"...pretty simple form, too.

"Freddie" and "All Blues" are blues changes, something musicians have been doing since the blues were invented.

"So What" and "Impressions" (same changes) - the easiest thing about these tunes is the changes, the hardest thing about these tunes is keeping the form. It's very easy on the bandstand, in the heat of battle to lose that form (very easy).

Yeah, "Freddie" is a blantant 12-bar Blues.
"All Blues", though, has sort of a twist to it.
I've heard & played that tune so many ways...I'm gonna have to re-visit the original.
Or, maybe you can tell me
The tune does NOT go up to the 4 chord...right?

I agree totally on "So What" & "Impressions"...unless it was one of the rare nights when things just clicked, I was counting away. Even then, it was easy getting too caught up listening to a horn player or guitarist having their "rare night".

Yeah, it does. It's a 12 bar blues, the only difference is the turnaround has a V-#V-V thing.

Oh, and Freddie has a cool twist to it - the 1st ending of form (12 Bar blues, but done A-A) has a bVII chord (Ab7 instead of Bb7).

Man; could it be I played some arrangement "somewhere"(?) that had "All Blues" doing G7 & then a Gm(this is where one would expect a C7).
Anyway, I recall staying in that "G" position for a lonnnnngggggg while...until the cool turnaround.

A cool sub(tritone) would be V-#V-b2.

If you like Kind of Blue, here's a couple more that you might want to check out:

The Best of John Coltrane:

My Favorite Things
Naima
Giant Steps
Equinox
Cousin Mary
Central Park West

Ballads by Dexter Gordon:

Darn That Dream
Don't Explain
I'm a Fool To Want You
Ernie's Tune
You've Changed
Willow Weep for Me
Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry
Body And Soul

(Central Park West and You've Changed are two of the most beautiful tunes ever recorded, IMHO).
