Great tune. Great bass part. This guy does a nice job of bringing it up front. Kudos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn74SPa63UY

Apologies if this question has been asked & answered elsewhere, but ... is there a single place where I can find a lot of McCartney bass lines transcribed?

There's another for 1962-66, too.

Both transcription & TAB.

One of the best compliments I've ever gotten concerning my bassing?

"You sound so good when you get into that Paul McCartney groove!"

Said by a guitarist whose talents I greatly admire.

The thing is, unlike a lot of players, he makes these beautiful melodic choices and makes them seem effortless; especially considering he had no formal training. Live, he'll often throw in little what I call "florets" like they're nothing.

THAT'S genius.

Brilliance indeed. Brilliant bit of pop songwriting as well.

I suspect that Sir Paul solo/Wings followed the same format as when he was a Beatle, and laid down the bass track last, or near last. I think this is really smart, especially for a composer-arranger, because it lets you construct a line that breathes or gets busy in the right places. Plus, he just makes tasteful musical choices, just as he does with chord progressions, vocal melody, harmonies, etc. etc.

I sing Paul's bass lines all the time. That shows how melodic his lines are!

Yep. I have heard Paul referring to those florets as "fiddly bits."

The guy has more talent in his fingernail than most people have in their entire body. I remember sitting down and learning Another Day note for note on my bass, just like the guy in the YT vid. It took me quite a while to learn all of it, and after I was done, all I could say was "wow" to the Mighty Mac.

Paul is one of those players who I refer to as having the "it" factor. He understands it, he just hears it and he knows how to find it.

Oh....to be so gifted.
