Bring on the opinions, Gov't Mule Thorazine Shuffle recording done

Ok for one im a huge Gov't Mule fan, one of the best bands to come out and God bless Allen Woodys soul but since Andy Hess replaced him, he is a huge inspiration to me.

Now this original line was all Allen's but Andy just grooves the heck out of it and its one of my favorite mule tunes.. I know Andy uses his trusty P-bass with flats but this is going to have to do.

I recorded it with the Squier 5 String Affinity strung with DR Black Beauty's running stock pickups with both pickups full on.

Rig consists of a Line6 Studio110 using the preamp out into Audacity for OSX. I am using the Ampeg B15 simulation.

No Post work done besides cut the original track down 24db at 200hz to let my tone come thru better.

opinions good or bad let me have them I can take it Only way I can get better is to have people tell me what im doing wrong or right.

right click and save as or stream its about 10 megs.

Just gave the first minute a listen. Being a die-hard Mule fan (check my name) and an Allen Woody devotee for a while, I own just about every recording of the song. To be completely honest, I couldn't differentiate between your bassline and the bassline in the mule recording. If there was a way for you to eliminate the bassline from the mule recording and just record your bassline, it would be much easier to hear your line.

If that IS what you did, then bravo. Nicely done.

Otherwise, I can't really tell a difference between this recorded version and the version that's on DOSE.

the original track was cut 24db at 200hz or so eliminating about 80% of the bass in the track.. You can hear in the first couple secs the original track before I come in.

And I am a mule fan as well..

I like it. Doesn't quite have the "grunt" as the original. Well done though.

Nice job.

I was a little surprised to see you so far down the neck. I play this up by the nut to take advantage of the open D string.

Ive never been a fan of open strings.. I rather played a fretted note..

And its more comfortable down the neck on my shoulder. I have a bad left side nerve issue in my shoulder so keeping it closer to my body is better..
