Buckethead is fine guitarist, incidentally - I just couldn't really tell much of anything bass-wise from that clip.

| | | | Even on bass, good 'ol Bucket manages to make heavy use the most horribly un-musical effects he can find. I'd rather hear music that sounds like music than music that sounds like monsters and robots. I always hate Bucket Heads tone. He is talented and fast, just not my cup 'o tea. |

And music store, jam session, etc.
I was just discussing this with some musician friends today. Some people are into really dense, whole lotta notes played in a repetious manner playing ... and predictably impressing other people who play that same instrument. OTOH some others get bored by repetitious stuff like this.
Learn a trick, work it up to speed, whip it out. Okay... now what?
NEXT LICK!!!
I remember seeing a guy at a Bass Day a few years back draw a crowd as he played a similar lick for at least five minutes. He drew a crowd of bass players and continued to play that same lick. They loved it. I thought it was pretty funny.
Excuse me while I whip this out...!!!
I'm such a snob. |
