The Burk, Funk and the Beatles?

Well, we did "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" at my church as a prelude last month and I ended up slapping on the thing. Something that's kinda rare for me (especially on Beatles tunes). I'm not a "slappin mofo" like Ken Jung (a little Detroit Bass players humor there) But anyway it was fun and my church has some real serious players. Our own Mikebass, James Simonson, and Matt Walsh play there to, and much better then me. Well enjoy.

I played my Sadowsky MS5 with A T"Funk 550 and a LDS 210

VERY cool! The Sadowsky sounds great.. plenty of growl and that nice little snap to your pops (or would that be pops to your snaps!)?!. I dig it. Smoking band also.

I still can't believe how top end and professional some of the music is in these church service Mega church type things. That's better staging and sound than half the concerts I've been to!

Good job!!!!

Very nice Steve. Great tone too. I always pictured you as someone who was just some conservative wingnut on here who never actually played. Hahaha. Very nice clip bro! I wish there were churches like that around here!

Mike usually plays North, not B'Ham so much anymore. I usually go to B'Ham. I just checked the Schedule (it is 4th sunday right?) if so Matt is at B'Ham, Mike at North, and James Simonson (Brothers Groove-Lion King) is at Troy. I'm off, I was asked to sub for the 1st weekend, but I got back on email about two clicks too late.

Cool. I'll probably just end up at troy on Sat. night... I used to work at one of the Kensington plants but I'm not there anymore so I have been popping in to BHam or Troy when I can. I also emailed a woman about playing there but I haven't heard anything back. Oh well it's just as fun to listen.

Good playing Steve! That Sadowsky is certainly cutting through as is always the case. Why were you guys playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in church?

We always do an instrumental Preludes. Sometimes we'll have assigned preludes. Ironically both of them were James Brown tunes with vocals. But usually the band picks the Prelude. We usually do a Prelude, a secular song that fits the message theme and a Christian Song at the end. It's a pretty full production with Video's and the works. It's more like playing at TV Talk show then a worship service. We have regular worship service on Wed. But even that's a full production. We have some really good players, one of the bassist toured the country with Lion King, our Music director (drummer) toured with Jeff Lober, and one of our other drummers was on the road for two tours with Sheryl Crow.

Hey Steve that's pretty tight. Your playing there is a prime example of some well executed supporting bass playing. You're definitely showing that it's all about the band first.

Sounds like a team player to me.

Great job Steve! I was there for that service and thought it was very tastefully played. And that bass is truly a keeper.

I'm on this weekend at B'ham.
