Can Anyone Name This Tune?

Sign in to disble this ad
Bandleader is interested in playing the attached mp3 but neither of us knows what song it is. Can anyone identify this tune? Note: sound quality is really bad (recorded from a telephone hold message). Thanks!

Hi.

I don't know why, but something in that tune made me think of Billy Powell (RIP).

Catchy tune, I'm sure it'll go down well in certain kind of gigs .

Regards
Sam

If that isn't Longhair it's certainly Longhair influenced.

Maybe Marcia Ball? She does alot of that kind of music.

It almost sound like "Tipitina" but that's a different melody. I second that it's Professor Longhair. Good call for your Fat Tuesday Gig tomorrow night.
Here's some Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen to get you warmed up. Fantastic band and Fonky, Fonky Bass!

This reminds me of Hugh Laurie's piano part in the season 1 intro of "A bit of Fry and Laurie"

I can't imagine why anyone would want to play a tune they had heard on a telephone hold message - every time I have been put on hold, I have been trying to get that thing out of my head as soon as possible!!

Fats Waller, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis............ none of them. It's a jitterbug pianist hired to do a 50's rock and roll thing for a phone company. If it were famous some old guy here would have named it by now. Then again it could have been this guy.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7Fmw5umeO0

I think it's very sad that with all the classic back catalogue you could listen to, given a little investment - that people are thinking of covering phone hold messages...

Any song from that catalogue could conceivably be played as a hold message - how would that lessen its quality?
