Can Fenderhutz play drums?

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I got bored and finally decided to record myself playing the drums. I am using my new SG (guitar) I got in trade as well

BE GENTLE, but tell me how you like the song "FREAK"

I am playing 100% of everything on this song. No prerecorded beats, or drum machines, just me, my imagination and about an hour to kill in my basement. All through a Line 6 TonePort.

The music is little "heavy", and I only had two mics on the drums.

It's rough mix but I am overall happy with it since I am not the worlds best drummer

Be sure to check out the bridge

I am still building up the gumption to sing.

Thanks.

Good basic beats from what I heard, it definitely doesn't get in the way of the rest of the music, and fits right in, without being overly simple.

A+

A+

I was going to record some other songs and I realized I play drums in 6/8 better than I can 4/4

Must all that indie/emo stuff I played in the early 90's. (HUM for one)

Or maybe Skynyrd................

I have to tell the truth, I did have to use a metronome

(which you can hear ghost at the end of the track)

Well from listening to the track, I'd say yes, yes you can. Very cool! Really rocks.

I appreciate the kind words, I have had no formal lessons.

My guitar player used to be a good drummer and my old singer was a cruise ship drummer for years and I am the type of person that can push the "record" button in my brain and replicate some things.

I think I play guitar and of course bass better than drums but I am trying to level out the playing field.

That was pretty dang cool. Seemed a tiny bit sloppy in the drum fills at first, but at the breakdown (where the guitar drops out the second half of the riff and the bass carries on), it starts feeling more comfortable. Nice job. The mix came out really nice. Maybe I should look a little harder at those TonePorts.

Where did you position the mics for drums?

Sounds good for just 2!

One on the kick (Shure SM57) and an overhead phantom powered condenser (Nady).

nice job overall.

The first song autoplayed, and i listened to a bit of it before i even switched to FREAK. My dad in the other room said 'who is that. it sounds good'.

Your solo song is pretty good. I rather liked the drumming. wasnt overbearing at all, and seemed to blend in pretty well

if anything you could've made something even more epic off that beat.

Sounds like someone uses cubase!

sounds better than I thought it would. Good job on the drums, better than I can do! I really like the bass tone as well, what're you playing? It's a real cool deftones kinda riff too.

Rock on!

That www.tellhazelrun.com site is my solo site. On the other songs I am playing/wrote everyting EXCEPT drums. My drummer on those other songs moved 2.5 hours away so I get to fend for myself. FREAK was my first attempt.

MIM Fender Jazz with Basslines hot and vintage pickups and a BadAss II bridge. I am emulating a 74 SVT through an 810 with a Gain pedal with the Line 6 TonePort.

Yes, Cubasis that came with my EMU sound card.

The drum playing is cool.
I wish there was more Kick drum. I had a hard time hearing it.

Would you mind disclosing how you get the bass sound (which PUP (neck, bridge)), effect... I REALLY like that sound.

btw, I looked at your profile but I need more details.

Thanks
Julo

Low action, down tuning, killing the strings with a pick.
