Can someone give me a song with a simple bassline?

I'd prefer a song that has a lot of similar notes, in fact, if the same note was played a lot that would be better. I need to find some songs like this and pick out notes/roots and whatnot for music lessons. Thanks in advance.

12 bar blues are great place to start. Start in D go to G back to D up to A down to G and back to D. Use itunes radio and switch it to a blues station. The older the music the better.

"Everyday People" - Sly & the Family Stone - Larry Graham/bass

Greatest funkin' one note groove ever to be laid down by a mortal.

That's true -- one or two notes for most of the tune!

I think an interesting lesson in simplicity would be Papa Was a Rolling Stone by the Temptations. Simple, yet it's rhythmically interesting and carries the song.

Another good one note bassline is "Magic Bus" by The Who".
Entwistle pounds out a bodacious Bo Diddley rhythm in the studio cut.

My favorite version is the "Live At Leeds" cut - although it contains a few more notes!

Simple Bass Line

Paul Chambers lays out a simple but elegant bass line on the opening chorus to Someday My Prince Will Come on the 1961 Miles Davis album by the same name. Plenty of repetition too...
