I'd like to listen to more of this, but since he has some 80 albums. Kind of a lot of sifting through. Wiki doesn''t seperate which is what/etc and knowing Zappa, he doesn't really stay on genre for a whole album. Any wise one's insight is thanked.

These are 3 that I would consider to be more jazz oriented albums:
Hot Rats
Waka/Jawaka
The Grand Wazoo
There are probably others but I lost track after '82 or so.

| | | | I have or had a compilation of instrumentals that you might like. I think it is simply called guitar. It is taken from a bunch of different concerts over a several year period. See if Amazon has that. |

Don't get the CD release. If you want to hear Sleep Dirt, download a rip of the vinyl or buy the vinyl. Trust me. If you get the CD and not the vinyl, don't say I didn't warn you. |

I would recommend the following though as essential listening, most of which will fulfill your need for fusion prog rock playing:
Roxy & Elsewhere, Lather and The Grand Wazoo

All live , no overdubs!!
-One size fits all is a good studio album too.
-"Yellow shark" if you're into modern stuff.

If you get the CD and not the vinyl, don't say I didn't warn you. | I've been trying to get a decent sounding rip, but there is always record noise, even from a brand new copy of this record straight out of the wrapper, it's snap, crackle, pop!
How did you make out with yours? I could trade you any Zappa CD or DVD you want. I have everything including 400 live shows burned to CD. Want to make a trade?? |

I can't believe no-one has mentioned this, but Disc 2 of Uncle Meat is fusion to the max. It's the whole "King Kong" suite.

| | | | The best source for Frank's fusion/progressive rock music doesn't cost you a thing. Log on to Zappateers and start downloading some of his shows from the tracker. I would suggest you sample
1968 10 20 Amsterdam Netherlands 92.39 stage+aud (bburnett)
1970 03 07 Los Angeles CA - 71.43 2nd gen (davmar77-jimshoes)
1972 09 10 - Hollywood Bowl 88.21 Aud MC (Yojimbo) ZTLS#188
1972 12 02 (E) Kansas City MO 69.43 Aud (walk)
1973 11 18 Waterloo Canada 82.34 SBD (BengoFury)
1974 09 09 Milano Italy 103.16 Aud (BengoFury)
Obviously, I cannot post URL's here and so you will have to cut and paste.
