I have re-discovered the beauty of Zep recently. Whole Lotta Love is 10X heavier than the 1st vid in this thread IMO. Speed isn't everything, but kudos for trying to "up your game". A lot of times really fast fills/bass solos can be really cool even in a middle of the metronome song. |

The best part of the Maxwell Murder solo was that it was like... 9 seconds of a solo that left you thinking "that was pretty cool", one might even say tasteful just because of its brief nature. The solo in the video went for too long, he was playing way faster than he was evidently capable of because he kept going out of time and half the notes where unintentionally muted because he can't fret them properly because of what looks like poor bass position.
I'm all for the punk rock/rock star solo vibe and everything, but that was a truly terrible version of an otherwise good solo.
