Can You Tell How I Am Playing?

I noticed that in my last recording (a 7 song album with apparently much to be desired on the vocals, if you followed that thread) it seems like my articulation didnt really come through so well.

I use a lot of slapping to get a more aggressive tone on the lower range, more aggressive than fingerstyle. Although it sounds good, I wonder if you guys (who know bass tone) can even tell that I am slapping.

For example:

The Cleansing: :25 into it-
Arisen: :20 into it-

I wonder what I am doing wrong? How can I get my slap tone to sound a little more punchy? Maybe I am using too much compression?

No, not really. Maybe about 45secs into Arisen but it almost sounds like an agressive pick sound overall, which would be good for this style of music.

I bet I'd notice more of a difference if I weren't playing this through crappy little speakers on an iMac.

very evident slap in The Waste, but I think that's because there's less noise you have to cut through during the less driven guitar parts.
