I played with the Mary Bliven band last year and we went into Mixed Emotions studio in Middleton, Mass. and did a full CD. I did my parts in a day and a half last May. The CD just came out Tuesday.

Here's a few of the tunes:

I love the backup vocals and slide guitar on "On the Edge."
"California" has the best hook, I think.
I like the second half of "Beg"

There's ten songs in total on the CD.

Mary and her husband are really the heart of the project. I just went in, played the bass parts and that's it. They brought in a B3 player, Marty Walsh on guitar (Supertramp, Leeann Rhimes, etc.) and worked hard on it for a long time.

I'm happy with the way it came out. Plus I can say I'm on a CD with a real pro! (Marty.)
That's more than I ever thought I'd do.

I just played a Stingray HH through a DI. I think there's plenty of bottom in the mix, that's for sure.

I'm real excited about it and just wanted to share a bit.

Just wanted to bump this back up to see if I can get some feedback.

I should've put in the original post, I think my bass sound has enough bottom (you tell me though) but it almost sounds too woofy. Almost dub. And with a Stingray, that surprised me. Just my personal taste, but I like to 'hear the string' if you know what I mean.
Could be my ear. I'm just an adequate player and my ear is shockingly unschooled.

Nothing I can do about it now, and I am still happy with the overall product.

Congratulations. This is a fine accomplishment.

You asked for feedback, so my thoughts (take 'em with a grain of salt - I'm no pro) I'd add "country" to the "rock / blues / pop" description. I think that this gal is a fine country singer. I don't hear much rock in her vocals. I don't like what happens with the vocals at 2:00 on "over the edge". Your bass work sounds good, nice tone - but I agree that it may be EQ'd a bit low making it sound a little woofy at times and hard to hear at others. I like your bass line on California. Over all great work. Good sounding "new country" music.
