The standard flashy bassline in classic rock is All right Now by Free.

"YYZ" and "Freewill" are just two examples from lots of Rush tunes that can keep you busy for a long time.

Im a big fan of Rush, but our drummer isn't quiet like Neil Peart.
Are there any infamous Peppers songs with a nice bassline? I only know their greatest hits.

You should really check out the freaky styley album from R.H.C.P.It's all about great funky music with extremely nice guitar riffs,rock-steady drumming and mind blowing basslines.Nothing close to the new cd...Cheers..

Jethro Tull and Allman Bros. are more our style, but I already know those bands.
Freaky Styley is a bit of to much rap. The album Californication suits better to our vocalist.

"The Real Me" by The Who would be a nice song to play on bass. You better have a singer, guitar player, and drummer who are up to the task as well.

Add "Roundabout" (YES) and "Ramble on" (Led Zeppelin) to your list.

Cream basslines aren't really difficult, but Jack Bruce was a really innovative player who wrote interesting lines.

Same can be said about Jack Casady and Jefferson Airplane.

Led Zeppelin's Immigrant song has an interesting bassline.

Black Sabbath's N.I.B. has a nice little entrance solo.

Iron Maiden's Can I play with Madness(Solo part near the end)

I know almost all of the Rush songs are complicated in all three instruments, ones that are most easy to play on drums for me(I'm a drum player also, I was before I started playing bass) are Anthem, Tom Sawyer, and Bastille Day, no real complicated drumming so its something your drum player should be able to play, but in Tom Sawyer there's a 7/8 where Geddy starts his solo on the synth, and then the bass where it might throw the drummer off.

Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer and Keep the Faith

Thats all I got...

cover bands are fun, but just start making some originals. you can create your own challenging bass lines.
