Here's the newest release from my band, Dethlehem. We're streaming the whole album on Bandcamp. I'd really appreciate it if anyone would check it out and post their thoughts, good or bad. Thanks!

The Ghorusalem Codex, Vol. 2: Of Magick & Tyranny | Dethlehem

The music sounds really good but not a big fan of the vocals....

Could you expand upon that? Is there anything that you like about the vocals?

This is true. We certainly lack in the flowing locks department. I'll get on that.

I for one love heavy music but just can't seem to get past bands that do the Roaring, screaming type vocals, where your singer is actually singing, it sounds good but you loose me when the roaring comes in..... thats just my opinion and I'm sure alot of people love that type of vox but I'm not one of them.... sorry..... over all, it sounds good....

I agree with previous posts, but then again, I'm old school metal (read: I'm just old). Love the music, excellent stuff. Love it when the singer sings. I just can't do the roaring stuff. It's just not my thing.

I actually wish that he'd just sing as well.

I'm going to go with the flow, here. Which is wild, because I usually don't in real life. Anyway, the band is really pretty good, although the guitarist is not terribly inventive. Not a problem, just an observation. The licks he plays are popular, so they must be good. The lead singer isn't bad, but he should sing all the time. I love heavy metal, even most death metal, but don't care for screamo. Roaring and screaming are becoming passé, anyway, at least around here. For me, I like to understand the lyrics, and think a melody should have some semblance of, i don't know... melody.

Interesting observation on the guitar parts. The guitarists don't even listen to much newer metal, so that's interesting that you say that the riffs are familiar.

I'm not sure what "screamo" is and I've never been able to quite figure out what that means. I listen to tons of music where the vocal approach is along these same lines. I have been working with the vocalist, encouraging him to sing more and more.

Here's an interesting observation. All of the local bands have said that our disc has too much singing. Haha

The band is tight. Good groove. I like how the guitars don't hurt my ears with over the top squeally pinch harmonics.

I really liked the song when it picked up, and your vocalist has kind of a Howard Jones vibe to him when he sings (not his tone, but the way he pushes out notes), which I also liked. The chorus is really good, and the guitar work before the "breakdown" around 4:20 was cool. I did feel that the intro dragged on a bit though and was definitely the least enjoyable part for me. Not to say that it was bad though, and im sure it's cool live. Overall I liked it.
All IMO obviously

Screamo is Emo (what we used to call "punk") lyrics that are screamed, basically.

The costumes are necessary because the whole band has backstory. The lyrics are all part of one big story that is being told over four releases. Yup. We're a concept band.

Kind of like Coheed and Cambria except you're not in jail for stealing oxycontin

As for your music, I really dug it.

I've always wanted to make a concept band like GWAR. Maybe a zombie band?

Thanks for the kind words. It's always an interesting thing when we show up and people don't know what they're getting.
As for Gwar, we actually opened up for them last year, here in Pittsburgh. Oderus himself stood out in front and watched us. It was pretty cool.
