We just got out of the studio and recorded a four song demo. If anyone is looking for a place to record I highly recommend Black Box Studios down here in sunny San Diego. I'm pretty happy with how things turned out and I'm dying to hear some feedback from my fellow TBers. www.myspace.com/thejukesfamily let me know what you think.

I'm just listening through right now, but damn you've got some nice slap lines to play. I'm definitely digging the vibe of the band and the music so far. The recordings sound pretty good, and I'm glad the bass is very audible. How'd you record?

I gave the first two songs a listen to and I like the sound you guys are getting. Your lead singer sounds great, but could do with some supporting vocals to give more depth. Overall. it sounds great. I'm fighting the flu and really need to give your songs another listen once my sinuses have cleared and my headache is gone. The other thing that would be interesting, would be to replace some of the vocal fills with lead guitar fills to change things up a bit. I look forward to relistening to the songs and hearing the ones I didn't get to yet. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah, I'm pretty lucky to have a band that understands the bass as not only a supporting instrument but one that people like to hear stretch out a little too.

We actually did all this live with no click. We've got some real traditionalist's mentalities in our band and I think it feels more organic. There was some doubling up of the guitar to make it feel a little more full and the vocals were recorded after the fact as well. I did all the bass lines with just me, my G&L L2000 and some compression. I was thrilled with how it came out tone wise. Testament to an awesome bass.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hear what you're saying on the vocals, backups would sound nice in there. We like to keep our recordings close to what it sounds like live and unfortunately our singer is the only one who can really hold a key. Once we start bringing in a pay roll though, some hot looking female backup singers with Aretha Franklin's voice are going to be first on the agenda

sounds like 60's phsycadelic, hendrex eara, singer, funk bassist, punk drummer, and an classic rock guitarist. I am so confused right now that I want to go play my bass.

You guys got a very unique sound. You have like a mixture of everything that is good, and well.......that's good! It's important nowadays to be yourself and original, we don't see that too much anymore. Good job on the songs.

However I'm not very fond of the mix. It's just missing something, however for your sound I guess it fits okay.
