its not loading for some reason, but if its the song i think it is, then it uses the intro melody of Portrait of Tracy.

man... that's uncool.

... on another note, I'll move this to recording, because I feel that it is more relevant there.

This "ruining" is putting money into the Pastorius family's account, which more than the complainers are doing. I don't care if they use it, as long as they pay and Jaco's family gets the publishing. Michael Henderson said it best: "I don't mind sampling. It proves that we were right all along."

...and on top of the fact that it's paying the Pastorius family, you don't have to listen to it!

It's only ruined for you if you let it be ruined for you.

Hey, if the original artist (or estate) is cool with it and is getting paid for it (which in this case,it sounds like is true for both counts), then who am I to say what they can or can't do with their music. If the Pastorius family is making $ off of it, then more power to em.

My gripe above is about taking a sample of a song I like and turning it into a song I don't like. Purely subjective, and yes, I don't have to listen to it. After the 1st time hearing it I usually don't. To me, the original can't help but lose a bit of luster when it's been reworked as the backbone of a tune that I don't dig.

Not looking for an argument fellas. Just my opinion. I tend to be a curmudgeon sometimes.

He's just a terrible artist, I hated his guts before, and this isn't gonna change it.

I kinda like it, and ive been talking about sampling with my mates and i reckon now that it is kinda a good thing.
Just because people go back and find the original songs which are always at least 5 times better. for example i got my friend who listens to Wu tang Clan into isaac hayes because he played me a song that sampled Walk On By and i recognised it.
So if someone listens to this song and thinks "man that is a nice sound i wonder what it is?" they will get in jaco which will lead to weather report which will lead to a world of GOOD.

I just Reckon these rappers should reference their samples so people can actually do this.

PS sorry for the rant i hope it makes sense

Good points on Jaco's estate being compensated.

The song still sucks (IMO blah blah blah blah).
