Chris Wood and MSMW

I know that there's tons of cats that probably haven't listened to this record so here's a link to turn you on...this dude schools the masses on how to play grooving lines that are very thoughtful but attainable.

There are other very tasty tracks from this album, check 'em out.

Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood - Out Louder

Nice! Great album, as is Scofield's - A Go Go (backed by MMW).
Check out this video from the 10/5 show at NEC I saw a few weeks ago. Me and the old lady had an excellent time. Also, here's a nice write up of the show.

Big fan of MM&W...just picked up their newest, Free Magic...it's live & they're in their acoustic/Free-ish Jazz mode (,ayne not as 'out' as Tonic (Live).
These guys can play it all. Wood is a groove-meister on EB...& a virtuoso on URB.

MM&W is sooooooo good. I missed a chance to see them a couple of years back (somehow had no idea that the show was going on) and I'm still kicking myself.

I've heard about these guys for a few years, even read a write up in Bass Player, but I ignored learning anything more about them as I thought 'meh, Jazz guys, probably too mellow for me'. Wrong!

I pick up the latest issue of Prog magazine, and there's always a CD inside with some known and unknown bands. I check out a track by Elephant9, completely blew me away (hammond organ, drums, bass). I check them out on youtube and someone commented if you like these guys check out MMW.

I go to some clip where MMW are playing with Scofeild and Wood kicks in with this knarly double bass, talk about a mind melter!

I'm going to check out stuff from these guys asap.

Chris Wood is a HUGE influence for me,The A GO GO album is what got me to want to play fusion/instrumental music and i havnt looked back since.

I saw MSMW when they toured the "Out Louder" Album, it was fantastic!
