I know the song, but I'm confused why a Christian church would play a song by a guy who practices Islam.

I don't want to start a big discussion here, but I'm personally not a supporter of churches playing any song that they can remotely connect to Christianity.

Heh heh, I've known that song since I learned it in the early 70s. I've heard it done in a church context but I've never played it in church that I recall. I think it's a beautiful song at any rate. A classic in it's own right.

FWIW: Cat Stevens wrote this one long before he converted to Islam.

yes, true...about that time, he was "being followed by a moon shadow"....

NICE!

But the song is probably more appropriate for church than say, Primus' "Bob"...

We've done it on Easter Sunday a few times. I used to play it in the 70s. (We need an old man smiley.)

nah man my church only plays hymns (which can be pretty hard!)
