The Church live on KCRW this morning...

Pretty awesome. Definitely one of my favorite bands, was very surprised to turn on the radio this morning and hear they'd be performing at 11 am! I'm listening to the stream right now and it sounds great, even through computer speakers, though its hard to hear the bass. Sounds like he's playing at least some of this with a pick. I know he's relatively simple and definitely understated as far as bassists go, but I love him and the band nonetheless. They play two tracks off their brand new album, followed by "you took" off The Blurred Crusade, and "north, south, east, and west" off Starfish (and it's about LA, of course!) Check it out:

PS. I was mortified to learn they're playing Los Angeles tonight, and OF COURSE, I've got a show an hour and a half away in Orange County. This always happens when my favorite overseas bands are in town!

Nice, The Church is one of my favourite bands too, and I really look forward to hearing their new album. (which isn't released where I live just yet)

A pity - for me, good for you - that the show you heard was a live stream only (or so it seems), though.

There should be a tab on that page to "LISTEN" and stream it after the fact. It aired at 11 am but i listened much later in the afternoon... unless they only keep it up for the day, i'm not sure.

EDIT: it is definitely still up and running, click to LISTEN to stream the audio, click WATCH and you can watch streaming video of the session... which i just now noticed! gonna watch this time myself.

Here's a direct link to the video:

Looks like Steve's playing his '73 jazz, at least on the first song. For the record this is far far cooler to watch than to simply listen to. Poor Peter Koppes doesn't get much screen time though!
