Click track coming through?

Sign in to disble this ad
Good day bassers.

This totally blew my mind and was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

What we been doing lately is recording the guitars and bass at the same time to a click track and then drummer gets that played back to him though headphones and he does his take.

Anyway last night, after we had done our take and everything else was turned down the click track was coming through on my bass track??? Not too loud but clearlyt audible.

Huh???

I am running my active Ibanez Roadgear through my Hartke Hydrive 115c, from the direct out jack at the rear of the amp.

How is this even possible??

Am I mad??

maybe if it's a wireless headset the signal gets picked up by your amp?
If that's not it I'd call a witch doctor to have your amp looked at

Could also be mixer channel crosstalk if your line in to record was going through the same board the click was playing through.

Yeh my line is going through the same board as the click when its playing. Mixer channel crosstalk then??

Wierd man.

We thought it musta been the speakers in the amp somehow picking up the click and sending it back through the system. lol - Just nuts man.

If you had told me this was possible i woulda said never ever - I even got a bit upset with the guitarist and was arguing with him saying that it is in no way possible - lol - till he turned everything off except me hahhahahah...

Anyway not really a problem cos I re-do the bass track anyway and then go straight into the mixer/recorder and when I do that there's no problem so it must be the amp somehow - Also this has never happened before and we on song # 6.

Thing is nothing has changed - I mean from now and the previous songs so yeh really not sure whats going on - Blowing my mind.

But thanks for the thoughts guys.

Rock on

So.. Is mixer channel crosstalk fixable?? I mean is it a problem with the desk i.e. faulty component or something??

One time I connected the line out jack of a guitarist's amp to a mixer, and then whenever the guitarist played I could hear his notes faintly coming out of my bass amp.. When the same guitarist then was listening to a song on the computer with headphones, the song could be heard faintly playing out of his amp. This has taught me that interference is very common, that's probably what's happening with you. I don't see how any mixer even in the intermediate to beginner level could bleed that much.

What he said ^. Ever head the radio through a wah (freaked me out the first time...)? Change the signal chain if you can; might help. Also, what part of the room you record in/direction you face.

No mixer is a Korg 8-channel with a built in hard drive. Actually very happy with the unit.

Totally freakin me out lol. I will change the positioning of my amp and myself in the room and let you guys know the outcome.

Its not overly loud and once the music is all played together it pretty much cant be heard except maybe in the quiet bits. And also not really a problem cos i redo my bass track anyway. Just puzzling lol.

But thanks again for the words guys

Rock out!!
