clips of my f bass

Hi guys,

I recently did a VERY casual studio session for a friend who wanted some rough rhythm tracks for a project he's working on. Just reading through the charts and tracking some rough ideas...

In any case I used my F Bass BN5 on a couple cuts and the tone came out great, especially the slap tone. The bass itself was recorded almost entirely flat (with a VERY slight low/high boost...maybe one notch) with both pickups full out and not in single coil mode. I sent it striaght into a countryman DI, through a tube pre in the board (which was also basically flat), and straight to tape, no processing.

These tracks are not mixed and are really rough, but it really gives a good idea of the tone of the bass.

The F Bass is used on El Capitan (slap) and Succotash. The other track is my old P-Bass, also run direct.

Check it out:

Great freakin' trx Brian! That F Bass tone truly kills........ It has the grit of an old J-bass, but there's an articulation in the notes that really cuts through. Great chops, nice feel. Keep the funk coming! I'm totally diggin' your stuff man.

Cheers,

George's amberburst finishes are my favourite!
