Coheed and Cambria: Neverender

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently bought Co & Ca's Neverender DVD. For those of you that aren't familiar with this, they played all 4 of their albums in their entirety over 4 nights in NYC (and other cities).

Well... Michael Todd's tone (and playing) is KILLER!!!! He has 3 Jazz basses on stage.

62 RI
75 RI
3rd looks like a Standard Jazz

He's playing through an Ampeg SVT and an SVT-810.

Just thought I'd share.

good stuff! a coworker preordered it and had a viewing party on a 52" plasma with a decent surround sound setup.

I've watched this DVD over and over since I got it. Huge fan of Mic Todd since buying it. I have a new bass hero. Funny thing is I never payed much attention to him, even after being a casual C+C fan for a couple of years. He plays the exact same bass I do and a very similar style too, even playing it a little higher up above the waist than most rock n rollers. It's like I'm copying his style but I never saw him play until the DVD. Cool.

Anyway... Great DVD. New standard of live collections IMO.

His third bass is the Fender 60's jazz or whatever it is called. The Mexican one.

I got the limited edition of the Neverender box set and yeah, it's completely amazing. Just about everything about Mic Todd's playing is superb. I made sure to stand right in front of him at their show in Atlantic City a few weeks ago haha.

It would be killer if he'd do a clinic as Bass Specialties or gave private lessons.

It looks like a USA stacked pot '62 RI to me.

How are the neverender DVDs? I couldn't justify buying the box set because I really haven't been into them since Josh left. I don't know what it is, but the two times I saw them with Chris Penne they just didn't seem like the same band anymore. The jams have certainly been better though, there was never as much opening for bass/drum soloing when Josh was around, but now with Chris they've taken some time off of the guitar wankery to give a little bass/drum time.

The dvd's are great, especially the bonus material. And at first I was iffy about Chris too. He's more jam oriented while Josh seemed more technical. But I've grown to accept it. He does the old songs great and the No World material he did was amazing. I love everything about that album.

Although I will say that when Chris took his drum solo at the end of The Final Cut in Atlantic City a few weeks ago, it got boring after about 5 minutes... and he kept going for another 10 after that. But he's not Neil Peart, so I can't be too critical of him haha.

I'm just a casual Coheed fan, but the box-set edition of Neverender is absolutely amazing. I'd DEFINITELY buy it again if something happened to it. I have their releases from the Starland Ballroom, La Zona Rosa, and Hammerstein Ballroom. This is by far the best live release they've put out.

If you can find the "Live @ The Avalon" bootleg it's great and worth a listen too.
