Cohesive (Computer Render)

I've just finished a slightly jazzy, slightly funky rhythm quartet entitled Cohesive. It's scored for Marimba, Vibraphone, Six String Bass and Drum Set.

This recording is a computer render with all samples, but it's plenty listenable. The bass sampler does leave a bit to be desired, but this is just to get an idea of how it'll sound - it's intended for real performers.

Anyone listening should know - Bass is my second instrument behind percussion, mainly mallet percussion. I'm a rhythm section dork. So this is basically a small percussion ensemble piece with a bass; not terribly uncommon.

I'd love to hear thoughts. And of course, if you like it, feel free to hit the big ol' '5' button on the left side of the page.

EZDrummer, yes?

I've listened to it and there's really some cool stuff in there.
But I think the most important thing will be working on highlighting the different parts and even whole sections through dynamics when working with the real players. Right now using the samples, it can sound like kind of a "run-on-sentence" at times.

But again, there's some cool stuff in there!

Thank you!

Yes, I realize samples can be a bit of a hindrance toward expressive and lyrical music when it isn't intended for a computer to play. I think it will be interesting to hear an ensemble play this when I get the opportunity.
