Los Lobos, Kiko
I'm not fond of the idea of Los Lobos covering old disney tunes but whatever. Kiko is def one of those albums hard to categorize, easy to listen to, with a lot of great guitar & bass tones. Nice vocals too. I'm listening to this now.
Police, Zenyata Mondata
Maybe this isn't so obscure but it's dated and besides the popular "Dedododo..." and "Don't Stand..." there are some jams here that are simple but really cook. From 1980.
Pink Floyd, Meddle
You don't have to be intoxicated or medicated to enjoy this PF album. If you've overlooked it for some reason find it. Now. Hear: "Fearless," "One of These Days"--my ideal elec bass tone.
Sonny Sharrock, Ask The Ages
The whole album is good but warning: you have to be able to tolerate the intense noise/free/jazz from guitarist Sharrock who turned the overdriven Les Paul inside out & upside down. Coltrane & Pharoah Sanders fans might appreciate this album. Beautiful songs under the solos. |
