Cool bass solos

Sign in to disble this ad
"Are You Gonna Go My Way" has a funky bass solo which completely overshadows whatever the guitar is doing at the same time.

Working on learning it note for note.

What other songs have cool bass solos?

Thanks!!!

"Supa Scoopa and the Mighty Scoop" and "Green Machine" by Kyuss have pretty cool bass solos. "War Pigs" by Sabbath has a very cool bass solo that people don't really notice. And of course the Lemon Song.

Well, I don't know if you are into this type of music, but anyway check this version of the Brazilian classic "How Insensitive" by Argentinean bassist/singer/multi-instrumentalist Pedro Aznar:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnABK3R5AeA&fmt=18

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful bass solos ever can be heard in that recording. If you are interested in explore it a bit further, you can check my version of that solo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rw_JlanqY0&fmt=22

Lots of room for improvements, but I think it somewhat helps anybody interested in studying it. An awesome solo, anyway.

Wow, Alvaro - you weren't kidding. That's a beautiful bass solo. I deeply dig your version. I love looking through your videos - introduces me to all kinds of great music that I'd otherwise never find. Keep up the good work, my friend.

Don't know if you're into the music but check out Cage by Dir en Grey. Great solo that stays locked in with the drummer.

Yeah, I play a little bass too. I could tell what you were doing there. You were playing some major and minor scales. I was watching your hands.

Lewis Johnson's solo on "Stomp" has always been one of my favorites.

Check out "Godzilla" by Fu Manchu. There's a pretty sick bass solo near the end.

there're tons of great solos out there so it's kinda hard to pick. my case, although it's not really a recording but Matt garrison's solo in Herbie's future2future DVD gave me sort of awakening in terms of approaching this instrument called 'bass'.
