Could this possibly solve the confusion over metal?

Honestly, this is a really, really cool site. It tracks the progression and intermarriage of pretty much every conceivable genre and subgenre of metal, along with full-song audio examples of each one.

No. Unless all of the metal fans cease to have opinions, then there will always be confusion.

I suppose that my question was mostly rhetorical, but it's still and interesting example of the dissemination of the genre.

This is one of the most useful things I have seen on the Internet in a while ! Naturally I went straight for my comfort genres (I hit up some Racer X in the Neo-Classical area first in case you're interested), but then I went exploring. Some of these bands (and even genres) were new to me. I am jamming on some "Blood Stain Child" (Trance Metal) right now having just got thru Djent.

Thanks for posting it.

Progressive metal. Turns out I am actually a metal fan. They got some Slade, Ramones, Deep Purple (that one I knew about, but didn't know it was "Speed Metal").
