Wish I could. I thought it pretty melodic for metal (not my cup of tea, but good). BTW, I see you'll be playing in Warren and Clinton twnsp. St pat's week. I'll be in Waterford & Pontiac. Goodluck

And as a fan of prog-metal, i love the melodic part |

imho, the drum shells are suffering a bit from over- compression, maybe try parallel compression so you can get the same tightness but balanced with the natural sound a bit more... the cymbals and shells don't come across as unified, they sound separate.
awesome though, the guitar part is really cool too. |

The musicianship is totally awesome!!!
I LOVE that I can hear the bass in the mix of a metal tune.
The middle is fantastic IMO but I guess it could be said that it is a dated formula, although it is one that I like (because I am old ).
I agree with others that the drums sound over compressed and would benefit from parallel compression.
I would be proud to be involved in a project like this. Keep up the good work! |

As a matter of personal opinion, the guitar and bass didn't seem to be as cohesive as they could be. Hard to put my finger on what exactly, maybe I feel like the guitar is lacking some low end (Riffing on the higher strings doesn't have much low end as it is, obviously). Or maybe a better word would be that it sounds washed out compared to the bass line, which is just fat and pounding and everything I like for tone.
Overall damn good though. |

And thanks for the suggestions. We constantly are tweaking the recordings to make them sound as good as possible!
And yes, I am pretty damn proud |

someone said the guitar needed to go lower, i feel the opposite, did not feel anything on the high end...

I agree with other posts that the drum sound is a little over compressed, but it's not enough that it was glaring at you while listening. just a little bit.
Love the melodic section in the middle.
Very well done. |

I really enjoyed the melodic section in the middle as well, btw.
Overall, this is some pretty quality stuff (even if I'm not particularly "into" this type of thing anymore... used to be though). I would recommend having someone else tweak the tones and mastering, frankly, it doesn't sound as if your guitarist is up to the task... at least not at the same level of ability that the band is displaying. He's getting CLOSE, but just not quite there yet. It's a whole 'nother set of skills that must be learned just like learning to play an instrument. The weakest link in the chain and all that applies here.

Bass tone is ridic
Drums, with the exception of the bass drum, are a tad low
Guitars sound kinda "Line 6-ey" (if that makes any sense), processed
Riffs are bad ass
Playing is great
I can see this song kicking major ass upon completion
Keep up the great work! |

Keep up the great work! | I love the bass tone too
And you hit the nail on the head with the Guitar tone... it's exactly that! I've been pushing him to upgrade his gear haha.
And I agree the drum tracks need some work, but I'm super happy that everyone digs the music! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
