Critique my band? (Rock)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TB, I was wondering if any of you had a moment to spare that you could give my band a listen and an honest opinion about our music along the way? As many of you all know, when you're in a band and you ask someone what they thought of it (perhaps after a live performance) they're always like "woow, dude you guys rock man, totally insane!!", but can't remember any of the tunes or whatsoever

So please, constructive criticism and be honest, I'd really appreciate some 1st class TB feedback Good or bad, tell me what we should do more and what we should completely avoid.

Here's the link: www.myspace.com/dammdk

Thanks in advance

I can't say I love the name, seems a little bit in bad taste.

The music is pretty good but Matter to Me seems to drag for the Stones / Jet / Strokes thing you are going for, and Mow Down seems a bit obvious and dumb. Both songs seem a bit flat, maybe they could have used some guitar overdubs, vocal harmonies, or something. I'll be honest, I was a bit bored by the end of each of the tunes, your singer has a good voice but neither song had a knock out melody.

I am not saying you all don't have some talent, clearly you do, but you guys have some work to do to reach the next level. Keep at it.

I like the instrumentals and the tone that everyone is laying down, I just don't care for the vocalist much/nor the lyrics. Keep rocking anyway!

To offer a little bit of (admittedly superficial) analysis, I'd sway you have a problem that many bands share: The vocal melodies aren't very memorable and it's quite obvious that they were created by singing over a backing track and not by specifically writing melodies.
