My old band is recording a demo. Even though I'm not in the band anymore I'm recording the bass, as a favor for the guitarist.

This is a rough pre-version of one of their songs, Genocide Revealing II. There's no vocals on this track yet.

Rough pre-version means, we recorded this one knowing that it wouldn't be perfect. We did this so we could have a listen and see where we needed to tighten things up before we actually recorded the real thing.

I'm not going to give a big list of excuses for my playing, my sound, my technique, etc. What you hear is me...

My old band is like grunge, hard rock.

Have a listen, and thanks.

Your fine... maaaybe add a touch more low end, but is sure as hell sounds like your guitard mixed this- the guitar overtakes the whole mix. Rough start, you all tightened up better, but rehearse that intro more. Good work...keep it up!

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the intro was off a bit, haha, but we'll work on that.

My guitarist did mix the track... you really think the guitar is overpowering? I thought the bass was way too loud...

I think the bass mix is reasonable and I'm using $10 headphones right now.

Guitar tone is awful though. What is he using?

Yeah, I have the cheap headphones set up with my PC(better than the speakers on the monitor ) ...and the guitar sound IS pretty annoying. Not so much what gear he's using...his touch...sounds like a pretty young player.

Thanks guys, once my 6 string comes in (next week finally!) we're gonna start recording the real versions of the songs. And we'll make sure everything is tight.

Umm, the guitarist has been playing for 10+ years. He plays through an old Traynor half stack and like 10 different pedals. He plays a fake Rickenbacker, an Edwards Les Paul, a custom Telecaster, a Fender Jagstang (or something like that) and a Silvertone. I don't know which one he used on this recording.

Very much appreciated, thanks.
