Critique my video

Tiny Dancer, by Elton John. Constructive criticism welcome. I know its not a perfect "performance" and my hair is kinda wild. Any ideas on improving my technique?

There is over a minute in this song before the bass even comes in. Sorry about that.

You asked for it.

Straighten up and relax your shoulders. You look like you could fall over into the bass at any moment.
Your thumb should be in the center of the back of the neck. That should stop you fingers from bunching up the way they do. You play like a guitar player instead of a bass player. You hand is in the shape of a guitarist playing a bar cord.
Feel and timing are OK. Though it seems like you've been playing this song for a while.
Your right hand is all over the place. If you cement you thumb on the pickup, like you do during the bridge, you don't have to worry where it is.
It doesn't sound bad the way you're doing it but, you probably have problems when you stand to play by letting you right hand wander.
Good luck

I played it again and followed your advice. Not too awkward feeling. But not as easy for me to mute strings that way (sometimes I mute strings with the right thumb). Anyway, I've never had a lesson from a bass teacher. Self-taught, been playing about 2 1/2 years. And yes, a former guitar player.

Its odd seeing you play with no strap on your shoulders...I got some critique on my playing and I try not to have my thumb like worm sticking up...nice playing and fun to see one of those Squire Telecasters, wouldn't mind getting one if it was in a cream color.

Yeah, that's called the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision. I've had it going on 2 weeks and like it more and more. I've done two small mods. A USA Switchcraft output jack, and a vintage .1 uF paper cap, replacing the original .068 uF (mylar?) cap. Thank you for commenting.
