Critique a Short Song I Wrote?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys could critique a little song I wrote today after listening to some older Modest Mouse. At the moment its just a bass line, a drum track and a guitar part. I wrote and recorded the bass and guitar parts, and got the drum track from breakbeatsonly.com The bass is a Squier DJAV straight into my computer with a little compression, the guitar is a Titan Jag/Strat straight in with a little compression and slight delay.

Here's the song : http://media.putfile.com/Short-Tune

A little backround on my playing, I have been playing bass for a little over 2 years with no actual lessons and bought a guitar on a whim 3 or 4 months ago.

Thanks for listening guys and if you got any opinions on the tune, let me know

honestly i liked it, some good textures, tones seemed a tad sterile, but you said you ran it straight to a computre so...did that squier have a floyd rose on it? it sounds whammariffic. track lacks any real direction, but is a well composed clip

kudos

i think it's pretty cool. nice tones considering the circumstances, and it's really mellow and easy to listen to.

The Squier is the bass, which doesnt have a whammy. I think you're hearing the guitar, which is a Titan I bought off ebay for $75 and yes, it has a whammy, but definatly not a floyd rose.

I do agree the track doesnt really go anywhere, its just a recording of a couple ideas I had for a song, wanted to record them before I forgot how they went, Im going to put in another more intense section, and theoretically there would be vocals (cept I can't sing, or write lyrics).

mods: sorry, I didnt really mean to bump this thread this soon, but wanted to clear up confusion about the whammy, and explain that this wasnt a fully written tune yet.
