Hey guys

I'd appreciate any constructive criticism or whatever. This was our first gig, and MY first REAL gig, haha.

I think you're gonna need Facebook to get into this, so it'll probably limit the browsing for some of you....unfortunately.

Anyways

I'm addressing your favorite video for my critique.

I like your sound as a whole. It's something I could find myself listening to because it's not too heavy and it's not too complicated. If I'm being picky, the bass line just sounds like it falls off the cliff. I think you end the notes a bit too soon. The void between the notes just throws me off. I'd love to hear you hang onto it, play the same note/passing tone to fill or have your drummer lock into what you're doing. The bass line suits the song though. I like how dark it sounds. I think the drummer is fantastic but a bit heavy on the high-hat, at least during the chorus. I'd love to hear it on the ride maybe a splash as a change up. Rhythm guitar while singing, yeah, it's fine. I like the style of his solo too, but that's just me. Vocals kinda just punched out of the singers range and I don't think screaming is at all appropriate in your sound. Other than that, good job. It's hard for me to find music I like but I like your music. I really do.

Sounds good!

Again on your favorite:
The hihat on the chorus is killing my ears, I assume that is the recording, but if it sounds like that live, he needs to back off a bit.

I agree that your choice of note length is a bit odd to my ears. My feeling is that you should either choose a more staccato note to allow more space, or a longer sustained note to smooth it out more.

Overall it sounds quite musical, very nice job for a first gig. Easier said than done, but try to get a more balanced recording next time.

I missed that point, now I'm more impressed.

That's the only way to improve, you know? You can't just say "you suck" or "you rock" when you're giving a critique.
