Critque my bass tone on this track

Hey guys,

I'm currently playing in a prog rock band and I wanted to know what ya'll think of my bass tone on this track. It's our first song to get mixed/mastered. Let me know what you guys think of it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Your bass tone has a good thing going here.
The singing could use a lot of work here though.

I really dig the tone. I would bring up the mids just a bit to accent your chops, just enough to give it a little growl (IMO). And yes, the singer needs work.

I like the track, nice arrangement. Here are my observations:

1) The bass tone seems (to me) to be a bit dark for the song
2) Vocals on the front end seem pitchy and off time
3) Is it me or does the drummer seem to drift during the front half of the song?

Overall you guys sound great and I'd like to hear more from you. Again, these are just MY opinions.

Good job!

Could be a bit punchier, but it's not bad as it is. But I agree on the singer - and the drums.

Thanks guys.
We have been working on getting the vocals and drums to be tighter and more on time since we recorded this back in June, but I'm glad that you're noticing the same hiccups that we were.

That's a good point with the mids adjustment. I'm really not as EQ savy as I should be for how long I've been playing.

Are you guys using a click track for the drums? I know a lot of musicians hate using them but you have to treat the click as part of the band.

No we didn't use a click track for this one. We tried at one point, but the heavier section is in 5/8 while the majority of the song is in 3/4 so the click track just got distracting.
