OK, I purchased the Tascam US-144 interface that comes with Cubase LE4.
I can get an input signal, the drivers are loaded correctly, etc.
Here's my delimma; I want to record in mono with the bass. The only way I am getting a signal to pass to the Cubase mixer is in stereo. In stereo the only thing I get is a right channel recording and playback.
What am I doing wrong? How do I correct the problem?

Big advice for this thing is READ THE MANUEL. It can be complicated to set up the first time around and set it up so you can use all of the connections.

It appears that everything is hooked up and assigned to where it should be.
I guess I need someone to hold my hand and walk me through this thing. I tried calling customer support, but they do not offer phone assistance for the LE version.

But from what I remember you need to delete all of the default input connections which are stereo inputs and replace them with mono inputs. then match the channel number to the input number.

If there are none listed than the issue is something else, maybe physical (driver?) with a cable or the wrong jack or something like that.

Can someone tell me what settings they are using so I can copy them? Hopefully someone smarter than me has been able to get this stuff to cooporate.

Delete and select the ones you have the speakers/mixer/whatever connected to.

When I play the recording back, I am only hearing the signal in one speaker. I don't understand this. Everything, and I mean everything is set to mono.

I use a Presonus firebox but this may give you some help
My input
My output
As you can see my input is set to stereo. To get my device to work properly when I record my bass I:
Create a new Mono track and select Stereo input 1 L (for Left) This takes my mono signal and sends it to both speakers both for recording with the little monitor button selected on the track itself (looks like a speaker) and for playback (after disableing monitoring on the track)
Hope it helps
