What do you all think? If you have a cover as well, please post it. Yes, I am from New York, hence the shirt.

I used bass tabs from bassmassta.net for the song.

My favourite song ever!

You played it a little too loosely IMHO, but still very good indeed. I really enjoyed it.

Ditch the tabs btw... You'll thank yourself later.

I love when this one's in the setlist.

Dear Prudence bass cover

A very good cover of this song is on Hiram Bullock's cd. Live at Manny's car wash. Will Lee on bass. The whole cd has some great bass lines.

Very nice job... hard to find anything to comment on.
I'd just suggest playing close attention to Paul's phrasing on the glisses: he doesn't just whiz up and down, but has a lazy feel that goes with the dreamy, plodding mood. Also, I think you're already doing it, but listen hard to his note lengths-- he's a supreme master at intentionally varying them (it's a phrasing thing, again).
Keep up the good work!

Hey Dougjwary. He plays behind the beat, is that what your talking about? He does it alot on Lucy in the sky with diamonds especially on that whole album.

Right. Another one is "All You Need is Love." <--(Edit: Actually, I just listened to this one again, and he doesn't really play behind the beat so much as inject a nice swinging feel in some places.)

And "Dear Prudence" (the overall song) has a really heavy feel... the ones and threes come down hard. It's almost like a slow march. By playing behind the beat, Paul has a lazy feel that is in synch with that.

VERY nice tone. I like the fact that I can hear your bass way over the familiar tune. You do a great job.
