Deep Purple - The Mule

One of my all time favourite tracks by Purple or anyone else. Fantastic solo. Sounds like there's about three drummers playing in places. Just listen to the build up to the few bars starting at 7:38. And of course the bass entrance at 20/21 seconds in or so.

But did you know some CD re-releases of Made In Japan ACTUALLY HAVE THE FAMOUS GILLAN QUOTE AT THE START EDITED OUT?! Like, completely missing! What ******* idiot made that decision? It's an absolutely classic moment in rock and roll history! Honestly, somebody should lose their job for that. Or better still, their nuts.

My own CD has it on, but it's tacked on to the end of Smoke On The Water instead of at the start of The Mule. That's okay when you're playing both tracks, but honestly, whoever mastered the CD must have had no empathy at all with the iconic material they were working on.

So, I’ve edited it back in here for my personal catharsis and my friends’ listening pleasure. I guess there will always be one more chance to “Come Taste The Band”.
